History

In January 2020, four community members with a passion for strengthening healthy families and children came together to discuss the idea of opening a much needed after school program in Wyandot County. The initial plan was to provide students with a safe, structured, and enriching place to connect with peers. After some conversation, however, their vision expanded to a center that would support local families, businesses, and organizations by providing workshops and spaces for community functions. Within two months, Wyandot Community Connections Inc., a non-profit, charitable, and educational organization was born.

The first step towards making this into a reality was finding a location and soon a building became available which was an attractive option since it was near several local schools. At the time, it was a simple pole barn, but the group had a vision to transform it.

This vision was embraced by other like-minded community organizations and this group of 4 quickly became 40.  Out of these 40, a committee was formed to re-design the building and furnish it.  Other committees-including one represented by local youth-worked to develop policies and procedures, plan activities and programs, and secure funding.

Then in November 2020, after the hard work and support of our generous community - the building was finished, and the HUB and the Event Center opened.

On August 3, The HUB unveiled a new outdoor space and showcased our rebranding. The new Unplug and Play outdoor space with a SkateScape was the next step in growing and furthering the outreach in the community. A new logo for The HUB was revealed. HUB Kids programs such as esports, Legos, skating were also presented.
